Mohamed Almogtaba Abdelrahman Yousif Ibrahim and Tidiane Guindo are two international students who are currently pursuing their academic goals at Universitas Teknologi Sumbawa (UTS). Both students have come a long way to pursue their dreams, with Almogtaba hailing from Sudan to study Mechanical Engineering, while Tidiane comes from Mali and is pursuing a degree in Development Economics. Both students arrived at UTS last year and already have had life-changing experiences during their journey in UTS to become future leaders.
During their time at UTS, both Almogtaba and Tidiane had the opportunity to study for one semester on Moyo, a paradise island within the Program Merdeka. The program provided them with the opportunity to experience the natural beauty of the island and live among the local community. This experience inspired Tidiane to work on a research project about the management of natural resources, demonstrating his dedication to finding sustainable solutions for societal and environmental issues. While Almogtaba designed plans for new technology aimed at helping farmers on the island showcasing his commitment to using his education for the betterment of society.
Now, the two international students are participating in a mobility program that allows them to study for one more semester at the University of Mataram (UNRAM) on the neighboring island of Lombok. UNRAM is hosting and providing a great educational experience for the students. UTS mobility program together with UNRAM allows them to not only learn their major but also explore Indonesia and experience different cultures, and provides them with a unique set of soft skills that will differentiate them from the rest of their peers.
At UTS, we are committed to provide the best academic experience to train the leaders of the future. We strive to create an environment that nurtures creativity, fosters critical thinking, and inspires innovation. With programs like Merdeka and our mobility program, we aim to provide our students with a diverse and enriching academic experience that will prepare them for the challenges of the global world. Studying abroad is not only an excellent opportunity to gain academic knowledge and practical skills but also a chance to learn about different cultures, lifestyles, and people. Living in a different country provides a unique perspective on the world and helps students develop a sense of empathy and understanding for those from different backgrounds. Almogtaba and Tidiane have embraced this opportunity with open arms, and their experiences will undoubtedly have a lasting impact on their lives.
Almogtaba and Tidiane’s experience as international students at UTS, and their participation in the mobility program at UNRAM, highlight the importance of international education in today’s world. By providing our students with a diverse and enriching academic experience, we are preparing them to become the leaders of the future who can address complex global challenges. We are proud of the accomplishments of our students and look forward to seeing what the future holds for them.
